The Ghazala 1 offers 7 day dive tours to the best dive sites in the northern Red Sea.
Features and accommodation
After a complete renovation in 2004, the ship that has become a legend already, shines in new splendour. The 25m (82 ft) long Ghazala 1 has four triples and two double cabins for up to 16 guests, all air conditioned and with private shower/toilet. A comfortable lounge and a cozy sun deck offer plenty of space to relax.
The large dive deck has rinse containers for cameras and there are charging stations with 110V and 22OV. Nitrox is available and free for Nitrox certified divers. They have 12 litre aluminium tanks on board. Electronic and safety equipment is up to date with international standards. The Ghazala 1 has one dive dinghy.
Diving service on board
Three to four dives are being offered daily. The dives are being conducted either off the Ghazala 1 or from the dinghy. A certain degree of diving experience is necessary, as independent diving only is being offered on the Ghazala 1.
Dive area
Diving is offered at the reefs of the northern part of the Red Sea, which are quickly to reach from Sharm el Sheikh, where the cruises start. Wreck dives at the Thistlegorm and Dunraven are on the schedule, so are the wrecks at Abu Nuhas. The Ras Mohammed National Park is on the agenda as well with the highlight of diving at Shark Reef.
The Thistlegorm is a must dive, you cannot miss this one! She holds plenty cargo like motorcycles, locomotives and war goods - a really unique dive. The wrecks of Abu Shaab Nuhas are also worth a visit. Dives in the Tiran Strait complete the tours in the north.
We think...
The Ghazala 1 does not offer quite the comfort compared to other liveaboards in the Red Sea, but is a very good alternative, especially for divers who just want to dive the northern part of the Red Sea.
