Dive Shop - Dugong Dive Center
Dugong Dive Centre is the one to choose when diving in Palawan. It is managed by German owners and they guarantee a very high standard of professional service. PADI dive training is offered, daily dive trips and of course the Dugong Dive Centre provides rental equipment.
They have 2 Bauer compressors, 60 x 12-litre aluminum tanks with INT connection and 20 complete equipment sets for hire. UW photo and video cameras are available for hire. Nitrox is available at an additional cost.
Dive Operation
Dugon Dive Center offers half-day trips ( with up to 2 dives) and full-day trips (with up to 3 dives). It takes between 10 and 60 minutes to get to the dive sites by outrigger boat. Experienced divers can scuba dive on their own in buddy teams. There is also a house reef which fetarures offer a superb variety of marine life.
If you like to visit the famous Apo Reef and Coron Bay (wreck diving!), extented 1-2 day trips are available. These trips are done with a larger outrigger boat an at additional cost per person. A minimum number of participants is required to operate these trips.
Dive area
The dive sites around Dimakaya Island are known for their species-rich coral gardens. A diving highlight is the excellent house reef, but also the 'Kyokuzan Maru Wreck', a Japanese freighter from WWII. The interesting coral and other marine growth on the
The wreck features cargo, cars and trucks overgrown with beautiful coral, and it is worth several dives.
The 'dugong feeding grounds' are an excellent spot to sight dugongs in the seagrass, which is their natural feeding area. Coron Bay, is a well known WWII Japanese ship cemetery which is a Mecca for wreck explorers. Visibility is often not ideal, but the wrecks are always worth a trip.
Apo Reef, off Mindoro Island’s coast and it is one of the best dive areas in the Philippines. You will be blown away by the spectacular scenic walls and the abundance of big fish. On a small nearby island, there is a research and a ranger station. Divers pay a National Park fee of approximately Peso 1300 for up to 2 days of diving.
