Dive Shop - Sea Explorers Malapascua
Sea Explorers Malapascua are a PADI Dive Center, they offer daily excursions, equipment rental and dive courses. They have 2 outrigger boats for dive trips. One is 24 m (8.8 ft) and takes max.18 divers. The other boat is 20 m (7.4 ft) long for max. 12 divers. They also have a small speedboat which they use sometimes. All boats are equipped with emergency kit, DAN Oxygen System and radio. The outrigger boats have a basic toilet. The dive shop has 100 aluminum tanks (12 liters) with INT and DIN connection, full equipment for 20 divers and 2 Bauer compressors. NITROX is available. This dive shop is under German/Swiss management.
Dive Operation
The closest dive sites can be accessed by outrigger boat in 10 minutes. Some dive sites are 3 hours away. They offer 2 trips per day to the closer dive sites. Sea Explorers Malapascua also offer full-day tours to the dive sites which are further away. Amongst them are the wreck of the Dona Marilyn, to Gato Island or Calangaman Island.
Another exciting dive is the early morning dive with the sharks at Monad Shoal Fox. Other specialty diving includes sunset dives with mating mandarin fish and seahorses which are spotted here often! Night diving can be requested. The dives are accompanied by European and local instructors and knowledgeable local Philippine dive guides who are familiar with the diving conditions.
Dive Region
The diving at Malapascua is very diverse. Besides sunken islands and the marine protected area around Gato Island, there are some wrecks worth visiting. Unfortunately, fishing with dynamite still occurs sometimes in this region and some reefs are affected by this. The dive sites are accessible all year round with mostly good visibility and usually low to medium currents. Highlights include diving at Monad Shoal with resident thresher sharks and manta rays. At Gato Island you very likely will see many white tip reef sharks and sea snakes.
