The Truk Lagoon Dive Center is conveniently located on the grounds of the Truk Stop Hotel operating from its own private jetty adjacent to the dive shop. This PADI dive center caters for recreational and technical divers alike.
Dive Center
The Truk Lagoon Dive Center has three customised 9m (30ft) dive boats, located by the adjacent jetty. All boats feature a covered sunroof and are powered by twin outboard engines. The boats carry communications, oxygen, emergency first aid kits, drinking water and a fresh water camera-rinse bucket.
The dive lockers, rinse tanks, outside shower, and staging area is located at the end of the private jetty making the whole process of gearing up and washing down quick and easy - especially with dive staff right there to help.
Two Bauer Compressors keep tanks full and ready to go, plus a Haskell pump to provide any mix of Nitrox requested for recreational and technical divers.
Daily Itinerary
Truk Lagoon Dive Center's dive packages cater to the recreational diver and include a 2 tank morning dive which departs from the private jetty at 8.30am each day and returns at about 12.30pm. Additional dives are on offer, up to 4 per day, which can include any combination of extra wreck, night, shark, or reef dives.
Technical Diving
In addition, the dive shop has a limited amount of rebreather cylinders, double tanks with convertible valves, and a variety of smaller sling, deco, and hang tanks for divers who require these. Groups wishing to dive trimix should book well in advance, in order for the dive shop to have the required helium on hand.
Dive Training
The standard range of PADI dive courses as well as courses from Nitrox to Advanced Trimix and Technical Wreck Penetration are offered through TDI, IANTD and NAUI Tech.
Dive Sites
Chuuk Lagoon has attracted divers from virtually every corner of the world. Marine archaeologists have located 41 World War II shipwrecks, referred to as The Ghost Fleet, although as many as 65 ships may be quietly resting at the bottom of the lagoon. A majority of the wrecks are located on the windward side of Tonoas Island, and between Tonoas and Fefan Islands. Another concentration of wrecks can be found near Uman Island. The dive center generally visits around 20 of the most popular dive sites plus other interesting sites upon request or when conditions are right. Most dive sites are located within a 25 minute boat ride from the dive shop.
