Deep Blue The M/V Deep Blue offers dive cruises from/ to San Christobal. Amongst other places, these week-long trips include a visit to the Wolf and Darwin Islands. Upon arrival at the airport in San Cristobal, the vessel is easily reached by speed boat after a short 5-10 minutes bus ride.
Facilities and accommodation The 32 meter (105 feet) long ship has a width of 7.5 m (25 feet) and a speed of 12.5 knots in ideal conditions. It contains 8 double cabins, all furnished with either 2 single beds or a double bed. All cabins have private shower and WC. The 4 top cabins have even panoramic windows. All cabins are fitted with individually controlled air conditioning.
Deep Blue's amenities include a spacious lounge, a small library, a large sun deck and another deck area with sun protection. Furthermore, the ship is equipped with a large dive deck and 2 camera tables. Dive service The dives are mostly performed off dive dinghies. Each day 3 dives will be offered. Under current National Parks guidelines, no night dives are allowed by any vessels within the Galapagos National Park.
The ship has a Nitrox membrane system, diving with Nitrox is an additional charge. The waters surrounding the Galapagos Islands are quite cool. From December to May: 21°-27°C (70°-80°F) and from June to November 15°-23°C (60°-75°F). You should bring at least a 5mm - 7mm wetsuit (semidry) with hood, boots and gloves. If you have, bring a dry suit. Dive areas The following amazing dive areas will be visited (weather permitting) as part of the excursion:
Wolf and Darwin Islands you may see hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, Galapagos sharks, manta rays, eagle rays, green and hawksbill turtles. Another attraction for sure are the fur seals, jacks, scorpionfish and dolphins. With some luck you may even see a whaleshark around Darwin Islands. Expect stong currents, about 1 to 3 knots! Santiago Island: dive with eagle rays, sea lions, green turtles and whitetip sharks. Also seahorses and frog fish are spotted here often. Santa Cruz Island: dive with Galapagos sharks, whitetip sharks, manta rays, turtles, sea lions. Currents are strong here too, 1 to 2 knots. We think... The Deep Blue is an ideal dive boat for all weather conditions in the Galapagos.
