Sea Explorers Cabilao
Sea Explorers Cabilao is a new PADI Dive Centre in Cabilao, located next to Pura Vida Cabilao (formerly Cabilao Beach Club). The managers speak English, Dutch and German. The dive center offers a number of daily dive trips, as well as equipment hire, dive training and Nitrox. There is a house reef directly in front of the dive centre. Night dives are also available.
Dive Service
Short dive trips are usually conducted by speed boat or small outrigger boat. For longer trips and transfers, a larger outrigger boat is used. The centre has an emergency kit, oxygen system and mobile phones. The dive centre has 12 litre aluminum tanks with INT connection, several complete sets of equipment and two Bauer compressors. Nitrox is also available.
Dive Sites
The dive operation is personally conducted by the Centre's Dutch Director, Ronald, and his Philippino dive guides. All dive guides have excellent local knowledge. Travelling to the dive sites takes between 5 to 30 minutes.
The reef in Cabilao is still very much intact and has a rich diversity of marine life. There are many types of pygmy seahorses, angler fish, stargazers, nudibranchs and ghost pipe fish. From January to March look for thresher sharks, white and black tip sharks. Hammerhead sharks used to be common in this area but nowadays they are a rare sight. The Lighthouse is one of the best highlights. It has a stunning Drop Off, thick with marine growth and plenty of seagrass fields in the shallow areas. Diving is good all year round. The visibility ranges from good to excellent with weak to medium currents.
