MV Sheena is managed by Werner Lau Diving, a name that guarantees excellent quality dive centers around the world. The authentic Maldevian liveaboard cruiser is 24m (79ft) long and takes a maximum of 14 guests. From July 2017 onwards, Sheena will operate from Filitheyo Resort in North Nilhande Atoll. Sheena offers the opportunity to discover new routes and diving areas away from the “classic” Maldives trips. Sheena operates year round and Filitheyo is accessible by a 35 minute seaplane flight from Male.
Check-in starts after 11.00am on Sundays. The trip leaves Filitheyo around 2.00pm. The trip is scheduled to return to the resort around 4.00pm on Saturday. Check-out is after breakfast at around 8.00am on Sunday morning. Special trips starting/ending in Male may have different embarkation and disembarkation times.
Sheena has a spacious salon as well as several decks offering a choice of shade or exposure to the sun. In total there are 4 shaded decks: in front of the salon, behind the salon at the stern and behind the cabins on the upper deck, all of which are furnished with sun lounges and mats. In addition to the main sun deck, there is also a second sun deck located in front of the wheel house with a comfortable relaxation area.
Meals are prepared fresh and will primarily be served at a large table located outside at the stern, but can also be enjoyed in the spacious salon at 3 large tables. One evening a beach BBQ on a remote island will be organised - undoubtedly a highlight of every trip on Sheena! For special occasions the crew can always arrange a romantic candlelight dinner for two under the stars on the sun deck.
There is a well-stocked bar offering a wide variety of drinks for guests' enjoyment in the salon and on the shaded deck. Tea, coffee and water are available, free of charge, all day.
The boat is undergoing regular maintenance intervals twice a year.
All cabins on the lower deck are suitable for single guests or as twin share, as they are furnished with two single beds. The two Owners cabins located on the upper deck are larger with an area of almost 17sqm, and are furnished with a double bed in each cabin. All 7 cabins have ensuite bathrooms featuring all the usual facilities including a basin, toilet with a normal flushing system and a fresh water shower. Towels are provided for all guests free of charge. Hairdryers are not available. The boat has a continuous supply of power (220V). The power plugs on board are identical with those of Great Britain and the crew will provide free adapters.
Diving is conducted from a custom built diving "Dhoni" which has plenty of room for all divers and equipment. The Dhoni has a fresh water shower and fresh water rinsetank for camera gear. There is a K14 compressor on board the diving dhoni. Sheena also stores 40x 12L aluminium tanks with DIN & INT valves. Nitrox is available free of charge. Full quality dive gear hire is available from the Werner Lau Dive Centre at Filitheyo Resort. The salon on the main boat has an extra shelf for recharging lights and video equipment. Two to three dives are scheduled each day, plus night dives, 1 or 2 times a week.
As is customary in the Maldives most of the dives will be drift dives. Planning the route and diving schedule will be based on your requests. Dives will generally be with the current, and you will be collected by the dhoni wherever you surface. To participate in a diving safari on the Sheena, each diver is required to show proof of at least 60 logged dives, and if possible, be in possession of an advanced diving license from an internationally recognized diving organization (eg. CMAS 2*, SSI advanced open water/advanced adventurer, PADI advanced or equivalent).
The official diving regulations in the Maldives allow a maximum depth limit of 30m. All other diving regulations are standard for international diving associations.
Sheena's schedule consists of 8 day/7 night cruises to the best dive sites around the Meemu, Laamu and Thaa Atolls in the Southern part of the Maldives. From July 2017, all Sheena liveaboard cruises will depart from Filitheyo Resort on the eastern side of North Nilandhe Atoll, approx. 60km south of Ari Atoll.

For Sheena's standard 7 and 10 night South Atoll cruises, a minimum of 60 logged dives is required. For special 2 week charters, a minimum of 100 logged dives is required. If possible, all divers joining Sheena should hold at least an Advanced certificate.
