Papua Explorers Dive Resort in Raja Ampat is located on the island of Gam, about 3 hours by speedboat from Sorong, and just a along the coast of the world renown Dampier Strait, only 10 to 15 minutes away from the most famous dive sites like Manta Point, Cape Kri and many more. The resort can be reached from Sorong twice per week, every Sunday and Wednesday.
The 14 Water bungalows blend traditional Papuan style with the comfort of modern design features. They are built by using local, natural materials collected from the surrounding villages. Most bungalows (12) are very spacious with 72sqm in size and all feature their own private veranda. These rooms can be set up as single, double/twin or triple occupancy. 2 bungalows are a little smaller with 50sqm and suitable for single or double occupancy.
All bungalows are identically equipped with ensuite toilet and shower, hot water, ceiling fan, mosquito net, working desk and a comfortable seating area. The spacious veranda with direct access to the sea by stairs, allows guests to enjoy the sun and sea in their own privacy. There are two sun lounges and a hammock on each veranda. Other room features are 24h electricity of 220V with European type plugs, in room tea and coffee facilities, drinking water, towels, environmentally friendly natural soap, shampoo and shower gel.
You will never miss a sunrise or sunset with the unique, round shape of the resort's restaurant. You can enjoy the beauty of the ocean and rainforest at the same time. You will taste examples of traditional Indonesian cuisine as well as international comfort foods out of the kitchen. You can gather energy enjoying the snacks between dives and chill out in the seating area after dinner.
Local tours can be arranged at reception. Bird watching is guaranteed during your stay. You wake up to the amazing sounds of tropical birds. Red Bird of Paradise is resident at the neighbouring bay. Guided kayak tours are available as well as village visits and waterfall trips.
Papua Explorers Resort has scheduled transfers to the island from Sorong every Sunday and Wednesday with its own transfer boat. The boat departs Sorong latest at 12.00pm (noon). Transfers are complimentary on the two scheduled departure days per week and when staying a min. of 7 nights. Any non-scheduled transfers attract additional fees.
On arrival in Sorong, guests will be met by ground crew and taken to a nearby hotel for a complimentary breakfast. Guests will be at the hotel until all guests have arrived and the boat is ready for departure.
On departure, the boat departs from the resort at 6.00am. Any same day departure flights should be arranged for after 10.30am.
There is a computer for guest use and complimentary wireless internet. Satellite internet via Wi-Fi is available in the main areas of the resort. Cellular reception does change day by day depending on weather conditions but is generally available.
