Dive Munda
Dive Munda is based in the village of Munda, on the southern coast of New Georgia Island in the Western Province of the Solomon Islands, and runs the dive operation for Agnes Lodge. It's an SSI Instructor Training Center.
Dive Service
Dive Munda is a small dive operation with great local staff on site daily. They offer incredible diving paired with personalized service.
Dive Munda offers only diving for already certified scuba divers. No courses are available at the moment. The shop stocks a range of well-maintained rental sport-diving equipment. Nitrox is available at extra cost.
Their two 7m fibreglass dive boats are equipped with oxygen and other first aid. The boats are powered by Yamaha F100 four-stroke outboards.
Dive area
Munda offers spectacular walls which drop off to over 600 meters. Grey, Blacktip and Whitetip Reef sharks routinely patrol, while Eagle rays, barracuda and other pelagics are also common. Encounters with any of several species of big sharks and rays add to the excitement, while for macro fans there are critters such as Pygmy Seahorses, Squat lobsters and Fiery Dartfish.
Munda’s reefs are in pristine condition, with lush hard and soft corals and gigantic sea fans. Snorkelers will also appreciate the extensive intact hard coral gardens in the shallows. Visibility varies from 15 to 40+ meters. The local wet season tends to begin late December and tapers off in March, although they dive year-round.
The diving in Munda is special - sites like Shark Point and the Cave of the Kustom Shark are possibly some of the best in the world. Encounters with any of several species of big sharks and rays add to the excitement, while for macro fans there are pristine reefs boasting with critters such as pygmy seahorses, squat lobsters and fiery dartfish. In addition to the reefs and abundant marine life, Munda’s seabed is littered with wrecks from WWII, with fighter planes, bombers, a Japanese freighter and a US dump site.
