Layang Layang is a small atoll in the middle of the South China Sea belonging to Malaysia. It is situated 300km northwest of Kota Kinabalu in Sabah. On the artificially enlarged island is a bird sanctuary, a runway stretching across the entire island, a small naval base and the dive resort. There is no beach and no house reef on the island. Layang Layang Island Resort is the only resort and diving operator available on this small coral atoll.
Accommodation & Facilities
There are 46 air-conditioned rooms with double or twin beds. Rooms are all constructed from tropical hardwoods. All rooms have a private terrace, air conditioning with individual controls, telephone, house video, fridge, cable TV and a bathroom. It is a quite comfortable resort with swimming pool, restaurant and bar. Complimentary coffee and tea making facilities are available in all rooms.
Five buffet meals are offered daily. The kitchen serves a good variety of dishes. In the evening you can go to the bar to end the dive day with music and drinks. There is also a large swimming pool and the opportunity for windsurfing and kayaking.
Staying Connected

We think…
This remote atoll is worth a dive trip. Be aware it is a pretty big resort and it can be crowded in the central season.
