Deacons Reef, Milne Bay

A steep dropoff rises from beyound 300m (1000ft) to form a series of coral towers very close to a cliff with overhanging trees. Between towers and cliff is an area of sea fans and whips and exquisite coral growth. To start with, work along the outer drop, keeping an eye open for Hsmmerhead and other Sharks and rays; but do not neglect to dive in the shallows right up against the cliff in rises the canopy of trees onto the reef. In the cliff face are deep crevices and even a cave.
